I had the honor of knowing Barbara as both a fellow hiker and a fellow teacher. In our club, "The Happy Gourmet Hikers," Barbara was a regular, enthusiastic and energetic hiker. She was getting along in years when I joined the club. Barbara and I knew each other from times past, and it became my "unofficial" job to help her cross streams and scale rocky outcrops. For that service, she dubbed me "A Gentleman and a Scholar." From her, I took it as a supreme complement.

I also knew her as I was a fellow teacher in Cajon Valley. One year I was given the assignment of revising and re-energizing a district-wide health curriculum, grades K-6. I hired a teacher from each grade level to do the revision and conduct teacher in-service on the delivery of the curriculum. I knew Barbara from various district functions, and Barbara was the first teacher I hired for the program. She possessed two qualities that made her "perfect" for the job. She was born to to teach, and had a "Can-Do" attitude that would not be deterred.

One of the district office administrators was supervising and advising my work. He complemented me for my choice to have Barbara work on the project. His quote regarding Barbara was "If you assigned her to go to the moon, she would be there and back in less than a week with a written report and a set of lesson plans."

To me, Barbara was the modern day version of "The Unsinkable Molly Brown." I am a better person for having known Barbara Templeton.

My memories of Barbara are as follows. My family lived across the street from each other in my early years. Barbara was my babysitter and I was her flower girl in first marriage.
I lived in my parents home during collage years and saw her mother Marie often. Her grandmother "Nona" was a special lady.
She will be missed and I have great memories.
Sorry for your loss.

Barbara and I went to San Diego State at the same time. We were older than most of the students, so we made friends immediately. I will never forget our studying together in the park with our young sons playing within eyesight. We later taught in the same district, so we saw each other occasionally. She was a special lady!
I hope she did not suffer. Deanna Avant

Barbara was my friend, my colleague, my mentor, and a fellow believer of our Lord. She was a devoted teacher and left a legacy in the students she taught.
When some of those students returned as alumni of Anza School, they always wanted to visit Mr. Templeton, their favorite teacher. She taught them more than academics. She taught them how to be good citizens, to respect and obey the rules, follow guidelines, and to be kind of others, all life skills. She prayed about them and over them, and God heard.

Now she'll receive her "gold star".
"Well done, good and faithful servant.... Enter now into the joy of your Lord."
Matt. 25:23
