Betty June Laudner, 92 died peacefully in the early morning hours of January
29, 2019 in Santee California, where she lived for 60 years. Born June 26,
1927 on a farm in Iowa, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-
grandmother and sister.
Betty, nicknamed “Boots” at an early age was the 6 th of 9 children. In her early
years she enjoyed getting into trouble with her older brothers on the farm.
She was class president, won the local beauty pageant and played the
saxophone before graduating high school. She went to beautician school for a
short time, washed dishes in a cafeteria and was a telephone operator.
She married in 1947 and would become the mother of 5 children which were
her “best accomplishment” (in her words). Later divorced, Betty would raise
her children by working hard; driving school bus, becoming an LVN, worked
in a clothing factory, was a cook, but eventually would retire from waitressing.
She became the proud grandma of 5 and great-grandma of 8 and was fondly
referred as Nana.
Mom loved quilting, sewing, crafting, took up painting for a short time and had
many talents in creativity.
Betty is survived by her 5 children, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a
special daughter-in-law, 1 sister and brother, and many nieces and nephews.
