Life Story for Billy Jones

Billy Jones had nine siblings and was survived by four- Teddy, Jimmy, Dorris, Annette, Orville, Harold{Deacon}, Juanita, Pauline, and one that passed very young. He had two wives that have both already passed away Ruth and Barbara. He had two children Toni and Larry and three step children Paula, Jimmy, and Linda. He was a loving Grandfather to 12 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandkids.

Bill was born in Perry County Kentucky 1931. He Graduated high school and left to join the Navy which lead him to San Diego California where he married Ruth and had 2 children. He loved fishing, hunting, and being in the Great Outdoors. Most weekends were spent on the Colorado River with friends fishing, frog gigging, and lounging around by the river.

He worked for over 30 years for the Ford Motor Company as a Service writer. He was a diligent worker and even continued working after he was retired in Yuma, Arizona in his 70’s part-time and was said to be one of their best workers. He knew the value of hard work and played hard too. Many of his friends stayed close with him till the end. A true and loyal friend always . The last 21 years of his life were spent in Yuma with his second wife Barbara and their three dogs Misty, Boe and Babe. They loved their dogs and being close to the River.

Billy Jones was a classic larger than life kind of man. Many of his stories are legendary and we all asked to hear them over and over. He had a wonderful laugh and big smile always on his face. We loved his bear hugs and all his slogan T-shirts. He was one of the first to wear "Shit Happens!" I’m sure. My favorite memory with him was listening to Marty Robins on our long drives to the River. All who knew him loved him dearly and will never forget all he did for his family and friends . But for now he’s gone fishing.
