Carol Merodine Currie was born in Palo Alto, CA on December 17, 1942. She grew up in Fullerton, CA, attended Fullerton Union High School, then went on to get her English degree at Cal State Fullerton. She worked as a first-grade teacher specializing in English as a Second Language for three years prior to getting married and starting a family. God took her home to be with Him on June 13, 2021. She passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years old. We all thought she would live well into her eighties, but it was her time to go.
Our mom was a loving mother to four daughters. She was also the eldest sister to three younger sisters and one younger brother.
Our mom was a single parent who raised four girls all by herself. You can imagine what a circus the household was at times when we were growing up. In addition to a busy household there were often struggles, but our mom was a strong and soft-spoken woman who raised four strong, beautiful, not always perfect, women. What she sacrificed for us was incredible. She always worked two jobs and was a humble person. She would take donations from our church so that we always had food, clothes, and gifts at Christmas time. Her survival skills, work ethic and drive made us who we are today. We could not have learned from a better nurturer and role model. She loved us unconditionally and had the patience of a saint even when we were not on our best behavior.
Our mom loved to paint and garden. She was a talented artist. She also loved to sing but we think she might have agreed with us that she was tone deaf. All of us girls heard her sing hymns at one point during church service and we could tell her pitch was off most of the time. She loved the Lord and did her best at sharing Him with us.
Our mom always tried to look her best. She loved putting on makeup and making sure her hair was done right. Even if she was just going to the doctor, she could not leave the house without putting on earrings, necklace, and lipstick.
We could not have asked for a more faithful, beautiful and loving mom.
