Carol Skinner Wells, a dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully in her beloved home in San Diego with family by her side. She was 93 years old and lived a full and vibrant life.
Carol was born in Sanford, Florida on January 19th, 1931 to Peyton Turner Wilson and Maybelle Mais Skinner Wilson. She was educated at Seminole High School and later attended Florida State University, becoming a proud member of the Tri Delta sorority.
Carol met her husband, Paul B. Wells, of Beaumont, Texas while he was in the US Naval Air Corps and they married in 1956. Soon after, the couple moved to Westwood, California so Paul could attend UCLA Law School. They welcomed their sons Paul Jr. and Stuart, and eventually landed in San Diego to build their life together.
Carol’s wit, elegance, and kindness was apparent to all who knew her. She was extremely devoted to her family, yet still filled the role of mother or grandmother to whoever needed it.
She embodied southern hospitality and charm, which was clear through her impeccable hosting skills and love of a good party. Carol and Paul were known for their unforgettable Christmas parties, a tradition that resulted in countless cherished memories and lasted for over many years.
She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, gardening, sewing and more, and was talented in most things she set her mind to. She was a devoted, longtime member of the Thursday Club, and made many valued friendships and memories during her active years as a member.
Carol adored her family and nurtured her friendships with immense care. She always welcomed good company, and always had a new story to share. Apart from her family, Carol leaves behind a large network of beloved friends including Kirsten Chapham, Bob Russell, and Michelle Tice who served as great sources of encouragement in the last 10 years of her life.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her son, Stuart. She is survived by her son Paul Jr. and his wife Lisa, her granddaughters Caroline, Chloe, Abigail, and Lisa’s daughter Megan, her sister Sunny Keller and many other family members and extended family.
