Born: March 3, 1964. At rest: June 3, 2017.
Carolyn was born the daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter (dec) and Wanda Rix and was raised a native of San Diego. While she attended Patrick Henry HS she volunteered as a candy striper at Kaiser Hospital. She attended Maric College and Concorde Career College to become an LVN and MOA. While working as a civilian nurse at Navy Hospital Balboa, she met her husband Kurt while he served as USN Hospital Corpsman. They were married in Las Vegas NV, on 10/29/1983, at the time he served on board USS Hoel (DDG-13) and were together 33 years. Later she worked as operation manager for Inter-City Express, than with Messenger Express. She also worked in sales for Merck, Thermoscan and Cisco Systems. She went on to work as the medical office manager for a gastro-enterology clinic at Kaiser Permanente.
She loved animals and had a special affinity for nature and wildlife. Growing up she enjoyed swimming and roller skating to the beach from nearby Admiral Baker Field. She traveled across Europe and to Hawaii with her family. She also traveled across California and the western United States with her husband Kurt to visit many National Parks, monuments and National Forests while enjoying camping outdoors with her nephews as well. One of her favorite pasttimes was writing stories and sharing them online to be enjoyed by her many fans. She also enjoyed playing pool, online video games and puzzles. Because of her severe injury nearly one year ago, her husband Kurt retired from HHSA at the County of San Diego to care for her and spend time together until her unexpected passing over.
