Following his military stint, Topper settled in Denver, Colorado, where he worked as a real estate broker and land developer. He was also an avid photographer and had an aerial photography business in Colorado, where he was a member of the Rotary Club. He remained a fan of Notre Dame Football and enjoyed the games, especially the Notre Dame-USC games, which he attended whenever possible after finally settling in Southern California. He is survived by 9 children from his first wife Leticia (now deceased), and by his loving wife of 35 years, Cynthia, and their son John Mark, as well as 15 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
