It is with deep sorrow that the family of Charles Taylor, age 94, announces his passing on November 29, 2024. Born in Pueblo, Colorado, he was the beloved son of the late William Taylor and Marguerite Newton.
Charles lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by his dedication to family, hard work, and independence. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Radioman aboard the USS Leyte (CV-32), an aircraft carrier that played a vital role in the conflict. After completing his education at Colorado University and marrying Norma Burrow, the love of his life, he carved out a career through his work with computer systems in the aerospace industry, gaining respect for his unwavering dedication and commitment to projects like the Apollo Space Missions and Defense Guidance Systems. He was a life long sports fan and his favorite teams included Broncos, Chargers and Padres.
He leaves behind his children Andrew Taylor (Sandra), Matthew Taylor, and Tracy Taylor-King and grandchildren Joya, Julia, Tyler, Victoria, Christofer, Brooke, Courtney, Dylan, Cabot, Rachel and Lauren, who will forever cherish the memories of his love and guidance. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma and his sisters Nadine Elich and Jacqueline Lake.
A funeral service will be held on January 10th 2025 @ 11:00AM, followed by a columbarium inurnment at Tierrasanta Lutheran Church, 11240 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92124. Those who knew him are invited to join his family in remembering and reflecting on his life.
