Charlotte Belle Hertel (née Haiman), a native San Diegan, passed peacefully in La Mesa on September 30, 2014, with her loving family by her side.
Born in San Diego on May 17, 1930, Charlotte attended San Diego High School. For decades, Charlotte and her husband owned and operated Bob’s Bakery and McCord’s Bakery, each with locations in Southeast San Diego and Normal Heights.
Charlotte was the seventh of eight children of Isadore and Guadalupe Haiman, who preceded her in death. Her husband, Bob Hertel, passed in 1983.
Charlotte is survived by her sister, Fannie English; her brother, Felix Haiman; her daughter, Barbara (Jon) Norvell; her son, Robert (Lynn) Hertel; her daughter, Michelle Hertel Cornelius; her granddaughter, Erika (Dolana) Jonte; her grandson, Joshua (Heidi) Jonte; her grandson, Justin (Rachel) Jonte; her grandson, Nicholaus Norvell (Adam Renteria); her grandson, Jeffrey Hutchinson (Raylyn Grund); her granddaughter, Amy (Jeremy) Stephenson; her grandson, Josh (Selena) Mink; and ten great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

Services to be held Tuesday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 8086 Broadway in Lemon Grove.
Our Mom, Nana, Grammie, Cha-Cha, Shirley, Fave and BFF will be missed by all.
