Craig Michael Rustich passed away on December 9, 2023. A San Diego native and Grossmont High alumnus, Craig was a skilled ironworker with Local 229, rising to the position of general foreman at Draheim Steel Inc. He took pride in contributing to the construction of numerous buildings that shape the San Diego skyline. Craig later earned his contracting license and established Colorfast Painting Inc.
Craig dedicated much of his free time to coaching youth baseball clubs. He was an exceptional coach who profoundly impacted many young athletes both on and off the field. An adventurer at heart, he also enjoyed exploring the backcountry in his Jeep. In quieter moments, he relaxed playing classical tunes on his acoustic guitar. The foundation of his life was his family, whom he cherished immensely. His 43-year marriage to his beloved wife, Doni, was a joyful journey of love, laughter, and shared memories. We will greatly miss his quick wit and ability to make us all laugh.
Craig is lovingly remembered by his wife, Donnell Rustich; sons JD, Brant, and Derek Rustich; daughters-in-law Lauren, Erica, and Cassie Rustich; grandsons Hudson, Rhett, Francis, and Cassius Rustich; his father, Michael Rustich; and sister, Kelsey Mulder. He was predeceased by his mother, Debby Rustich.
Graveside Service on Wednesday, December 20th, 2pm at Singing Hills Memorial Park. Reception to follow at JD and Lauren's house in Fletcher Hills.
