Dale Arthur Fuller

April 17, 1949 — February 4, 2025

Dale A. Fuller was born on April 17, 1949 to Donald G. Fuller and Darrah MacLeod Fuller, of Cape Cod Massachusetts. His father was a dedicated US Navy Veteran and Dale amongst his family lived in many places—Washington D.C., Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Virginia before settling in Cape Cod. He graduated from Bourne High School in 1967 and attended UMass Dartmouth before joining the Navy in 1970. While in the Navy, he served tours in Japan, Philippines, Vietnam and Antarctica. He served on the USS Rentz, Uss Peleliu and USS Enterprise.

Dale always enjoyed reading and being with family and friends. Dale had a deep sense of duty and put others ahead of himself. As a young boy in Tennessee, he was with friends when he saw a girl struggling in the pond. Without hesitation or giving a thought for his own safety, he jumped in and saved her from drowning. Typical Dale Fuller!

He was a Boy Scout in his youth, and in high school he was a member of the football team and the gun club. He inherited a love for the Red Sox baseball team from his paternal grandmother Lillian. When he retired to San Diego in the ‘90s, he also became a loyal fan of the Padres. He then married Dahlia Minas Fuller in 1997, going on to becoming a beloved husband, father and grandfather to Miclyne Abastillas, Michael Abastillas and Ashleigh Eden A. Toledo.

When Dale retired with the Navy in San Diego as a Command Master Chief, he spent most of his time running long distance marathons. After his retirement, he went on to work for Unidyne and has since then retired from military contracting and became a part time Uber Driver and your friendly neighborhood cart attendant at Home Depot. Dale cherished his professional work and was a respectable peer and leader.

He simply cherished spending his time in a way that felt productive and meaningful while also connecting to his community. He always believed in doing what was right. His simple joys in life were library trips and reading historical fiction and non-fiction, trivia game shows, running outdoors, his dogs Chelsea and Benjamin, connecting with old friends and family through email and Facebook, enjoying a meal in the nice weather and a sweet treat—M&Ms and a frosted sugar cookie to be exact.

He was predeceased by his parents and his younger sister Darlene who died in 1969. He is survived by his sisters, Donna (Christopher) Mark and Diane (Samuel) Swift, nephews Matthew (Amy) Swift, Timothy (Polina) Swift, Brian (Nicole) Mark, Joshua (Michelle) Mark and his niece Jean (Jonathan) Link. He is also survived by many grandnephews and grandnieces.

All his family were proud of the man he was and loved him dearly. Dale Arthur Fuller will always remain in our hearts as a highly respected US Navy Veteran and dedicated man to family and friends. He has without a doubt left this world a better place because of his integrity, devotion and love for life and those around him.
