Dale Eric Johnson

Dale Eric Johnson, of La Mesa, CA, died peacefully at home on December 21, 2023. He was born in San Diego in 1941 to Dottie & Wally Johnson. He ran track at Hoover High School, served as a chaplain’s assistant during the Vietnam War, and graduated from SDSU with a master’s degree in education. He taught woodshop at Helix High School for over two decades, positively impacting the lives of many students. In 1983 he married Maryann, the love of his life, and was an amazingly kind and supportive stepfather.  Dale had a lifelong love of playing the piano, photography, woodworking, and nature appreciation.  He especially enjoyed his time in Sandpoint, Idaho, where he and his wife made a second home.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his sister Linda, two nieces, his wife Maryann, three daughters, and eight grandsons.  Dale was a kind, friendly and loving man who will be greatly missed.
