Dale Waasted
3/6/1956 - 2/14/2017
Dale Waasted was born March 6, 1956 in San Diego to Robert and Marian (passed away) Waasted. The youngest of 3 boys - Dave (wife Rox, Kids Clint, Jake, Tiffany, grandkids Braeden, Audrey), Dean (passed away May 2016) (wife Patty, Kids Chris, Ashley, Ally, Sharon, Dustin, grandchild Ava). Dale is also survived by his wife Julie.
The above paragraph says the basics, born to and grew up with and had nieces nephews and a wife. What that paragraph doesn't state is who Dale was. His love for family, his love of sports, growing up he strived to be the best at everything he did trying to get the approval from his dad and brothers that he mattered.
Dale played football from grade school through college, was a Tight End to be reckoned with, he was happiest when his friends and family were there to support him. Whether it was at a local ball field or a far away one, he would light up knowing his family and friends were there.
He took that a little farther during his adult years while working for someone else or owning his own businesses. If there was a niece or nephews game and he could work it into the days schedule he would drive hours to be at a pee wee soccer game, a nieces volleyball or water polo game, a nephews high school or college football game, and even drive 4-5 hours on a Friday night just to be with his older brother helping coach the high school football games. He loved the kids but being with family meant the most to him.
Dale had a very kind and loving heart, it seems everyone who met him was given a piece of Dales heart. Throughout the years, he was the type of friend you could go 25 years with out talking but the minute you got in touch again, you could pick up as if you had just seen him yesterday.
As an adult Dale consciously decided that life was worth living and not fighting over petty stuff, his wife tried to have a verbal fight with him once in their first year of marriage and all he could do was laugh and state "we are not going to fight over this" that was the first and last fight they had in their 25 years together.
Dale had a passion for animals, he had unconditional love for his Fur Kids (Simon, Duke and Yanni) we are sure all had been waiting at the rainbow bridge for Dale to arrive.
He also had a love for his sunglasses and ball cap, even after falling ill the first thing he would ask for is where is my glasses and ball cap. One very little known secret - Dale loved shoes, not buying them but looking at them, he would go to an event or the mall and you would find Dale in what looked like deep thought, eyes cast down, it took his wife a few years to finally figure it out, he was watching people's feet and making mental notes about their shoes. You could actually see the wheels turning watching others shoes as you or I would watch cars or faces. When you would catch him staring he would just flash that wonderful smile and go about his way. He enjoyed fishing for trout in the streams of our national parks across the nation, salmon fishing in Canada, deep sea and inshore fishing of Baja and Panama, as long as he had his wife by his side.
I loved that I can honestly say, I was married to one of gods angels here on earth. He loved deeply, he was an honest God fearing man who enjoyed everything around him. He is deeply missed and I can not wait to see him again in heaven one day.
While very tough, looking back it is appropriate that a kind and gentle man with a great big heart passed away on St Valentine's Day. Rest peacefully my love, you deserve the rest. Though my heart breaks at losing you, my best friend, I celebrate you and your kind and gentle soul. You mattered and were deeply loved.
