Dallas Dale Martensen

November 23, 1956 — January 8, 2025

San Diego, CA

Dallas Dale Martensen, born on November 23, 1956, in San Diego, California, passed away unexpectedly in his home on January 8, 2025. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and son whose vibrant personality and unyielding faith left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Dallas began his career in the family business selling motorcycles and quickly his natural talent as a salesman. His professional journey took him through various industries, including real estate, car sales, and life insurance. However, his true passion always lay in real estate, where he thrived and made lasting connections.

A graduate of Hilltop High School in 1974, Dallas continued his education at San Diego State University. His education laid a foundation for his charismatic approach to life, allowing him to connect effortlessly with others. Dallas was a true people person, known for his charm and ability to make others laugh. His presence lit up any room he entered.

Dallas was a devoted Christian who drew comfort and strength from his faith. He spent many coffee-filled mornings immersed in the teachings of the Word of God. Whether it was engaging in the Bible and prayers at home or at church, it remained a constant throughout his life. His unwavering faith led him to share the love of Christ with those around him.

He took joy in his daily FaceTimes with his granddaughter, Riley, often generating various creative nicknames for himself in place of ‘grandpa.’ His pride in his children was evident to anyone he spoke to. In addition to being a loving family member, Dallas was also a black belt in Taekwondo, reflecting his commitment to personal achievement and growth.

In his leisure time, Dallas enjoyed a variety of interests, including riding motorcycles, playing golf, and spending time at the beach, particularly walking the shores of La Jolla. He was an avid fan of both football and golf, and he relished the opportunity for a good afternoon nap. At the local YMCA, he could often be found hitting the sauna, always eager to unwind.

Dallas is survived by his children, Dallas Derek Martensen (Samantha) and Dana Schwartz (David), along with his beloved granddaughter, Riley Schwartz. He is also survived by his siblings: Mark Martensen (Kerry), Jill Houska, Jacklyn Harlan (Keith), Jane Martensen, and Michael Martensen, as well as his mother, Jaydeen Grant. In addition, he leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews.

Dallas was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Dean Martensen. His sudden passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends, but the legacy of his joyous spirit and unwavering faith will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the love he shared and the laughter he brought into the world.
