Darryl Barabara Chryssovergis
1944 - 2020
Darryl Barbara was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1944. She feel asleep peacefully in death in January, 2020, in San Diego, CA, surrounded by her 3 daughters, Aletha, Christine and Ione. She was born to Ione Doussan, an only child, and raised by her single mother, who worked hard and gave her a Catholic school education. Darryl is survived by her daughters Aletha Chryssovergis, Christine Chryssovergis & Ione Chryssovergis Daniels and her son, David Chryssovergis, grandchildren Austin Daniels, Cameryn Daniels, Michael Chryssovergis and Sofia Chryssovergis. She is also survived by her cousins Julie Recile Clark and William “Will” Clark.
Darryl attended Holy Angels Academy High School in New Orleans and married William Chryssovergis in December of 1962, where she raised 4 children in Mid City New Orleans on Dumaine Street in the Greek family home. She was a loving and engaged housewife, a wonderful cook. In 2001, she and her mother Ione, moved to San Diego, California, where she was near her daughter Ione and Christine, and cared for by her all three daughters after her Mother passed away in 2002. She attended Catholic mass with her daughter and was always doing her best to endure her chronic illness and disability, laugh and joke with others, and share her drinks, money, clothing and worldly possessions with those in need around her. She endured many conditions and was a champ at maintaining a great attitude through it all, achieving her long life to the age of 75 years old. Darryl had a great sense of humour, loved food, music and dancing, and was a faithful in her praying and relationship with God and Jesus. She always believed she would have everlasting life, and as a faithful servant, she was in God’s heart. Darryl is deeply missed by her children and in now in cradled God’s arms in peace and rest.
