David F. Cecil, age 87, of El Cajon, CA, passed away peacefully in the
comfort of his home on Friday, February 22, 2019, surrounded by loved
ones.
David was born on October 4, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son
of Leo Cecil and Pamela Folsom Duquette Cecil, and brother to six
siblings, all who have predeceased him, with the exception of his “lil sis,”
Gayle Heacock.
On March 31, 1951, David married his high school sweetheart, June
Barbara Tuttle, sharing life and love until her passing on August 12,
2004. He was respected and adored by all his family – daughter,
Christine Gianturco and husband Nicholas Gianturco of Middleton, MA;
David H. Cecil (predeceased, January 23, 2016) and his wife Linda of
Rancho Bernardo, CA; and Carol Shue and her husband, Greg Shue, of
Alpine, CA; his loving grandchildren, Nicole Gianturco, Thomas
Gianturco and his wife, Paige Miller Gianturco, Ann-Marie Gianturco,
Gregory Cecil Shue, and his precious great-granddaughter, Tessa Claire
Gianturco, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
In 1960, Dave and June moved the family from the Detroit area to sunny
San Diego. Dave was a skilled worker in the areas of welding, sheet
metal, and heating & air conditioning, but his true passion was
woodworking. He was self-taught and a true craftsman.
As evinced from his Jitterbug days, Dave also loved dancing and music,
as well as playing cards, billiards, and voraciously reading. He was a
loyal Padres fan and enjoyed watching his adopted club, the Red Sox,
especially while spending time in the Boston area with family. Dave also
enjoyed fishing and treasured his Alaskan adventure with his son,
David.
