David Meek passed away on January 17, 2014 peacefully at home. David was born December 28, 1930 in San Diego, California. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Mary and Jack Meek of San Diego. He is survived by his loving cousins; Dora Rebolledo, Estella Cunningham, Gloria Rebolledo, Pauline and Rick Wagner, Paul and Tina Rebolledo. Mercedes R. Gastelum, Marcela R. Smith, Lydia Rupp, Francis “Noni” Beach, and preceded in death by his cousin Carlos Ramirez. David Meek also left behind nieces and nephews; Sandra Armenta, Ronnie and Marilyn Petersen, Jerry and Theresa Petersen, Louie and Beverly Petersen, Allyn Colburn, Allen Cunningham Jr, Yvonne Firks, David and Debbie Firks, Cody and Tina Firks Theresa Rebolledo, Beatriz Rebolledo Vigil and her deceased husband Tomas Vigil, Silvia Rebolledo, Paul Rebolledo Jr, Carmen Wagner, Michael Wagner Ramona Wagner, and several great nieces and nephews.
David graduated from Grossmont High School in 1948 he then attended Stanford University where he studied History and Pre-Medical curriculum he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1954 and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. David Meek joined the United States Navy and trained as a Naval Aviator he was a Jet Fighter Pilot and was honorably discharged in 1957. He later attended the American Institute for Foreign Trade in Phoenix, Arizona and received a Bachelor of Foreign Trade degree in 1959.
In 1963 David Meek along with Basil Albury, and Sidney Albury founded the Dunmore Beach Club which was a small hotel operated as a private club on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. They ran the exclusive Piccarone Dinner Club and resort for over 10 years.
