Diana Lynn Martin

October 5, 1957 — May 30, 2024

Our mom Diana and her identical twin MaryRay were born on October 5th, 1957 in Sasebo City Japan, to Michiko Fukunaga and Bily Ray Stone. Diana was given away as a gift of love on the promise that she would be well taken care of by Elsie and Dudley Crawford. As the years passed, mom's family grew to include her brothers Larry and Tommy and her sister Shirley. The Crawford family moved to Mississippi in 1968 where many youthful memories were created. In 1973, the Crawford family moved back to California.

Mom attended Bonita Vista High School, where she met her first husband David Zaretzka. Mom and Dad welcomed Kimberly in 1977 and Amy in 1983.   In 1991, mom was overjoyed to welcome her first grandson Anthony. We all lived together in National City until mom and dad divorced in 1993.

Mom found love again with her long-time friend James Martin later in 1993. Mom and James enjoyed bonfires, pets, fishing, camping, music and food together.

Mom was thrilled when her family grew again in 2005, when Amy married Christopher Milligan, and over the moon to welcome her second grandson Christopher Jr into the family.

Mom and James were finally married in 2007.

in 2008, mom was so happy when our family grew again when Kimberly married Paul Fiskratti, and her first granddaughter Alexis was born.

In 2009, mom was once again delighted when her third grandson Jacob was born, and was elated when her twin MaryRay miraculously found her through Facebook. This resulted in our family growing yet again, when mom was able to finally meet her birth mother Michiko, as well as her other sisters Gail and Barb. Later that year, mom was reunited with her birth father Bily Ray and other sisters Marlene & Sandi, as well as her brother Fuminobu who came to visit from Japan.

In 2012, James passed away and mom was devastated. In 2013, mom decided to move to Madison Wisconsin to live a happier life together with her twin MaryRay and her husband Ken. She adored feeling her heart and soul full again as she and MaryRay caught up on 52 years of being apart, including becoming an active member of SGI Buddhism.

In 2023, mom moved back to San Diego to help care for Grandma Elsie, where she spent her final year spending time with her California family and friends. Mom passed away peacefully on Thursday May 30th 2024, with Kimberly, Amy, MaryRay, and family friend Gina by her side.

The most important thing to know about our mom was that she loved caring for and helping other people, almost to a fault. Over the years, mom was a Certified Nurse Assistant, where she was a loving caregiver to the elderly until she was injured on the job. Mom also worked in various roles in the following years, including a delivery driver at KFC, a delivery driver for CARQUEST Auto Parts, and a cashier at Menards until she retired.

Mom made friends very easily, any friend of yours was a friend of hers. Mom shared her beautiful smile with anyone she met, Mom loved deeply and also had a very silly side; we will never know just how many lives she touched. Please know that if you knew mom, she loved you.

She will be deeply missed.
