Donald P Snowden

Donald P. Snowden, age 83, died from bladder cancer on January 10, 2015. He died peacefully with friends at his side. Don is survived by his cousins, church family and a multitude of friends.
Don was born in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from The Harvard School for Boys in 1949. Don earned his BS from California Institute of Technology in 1953 and his Ph.D. from UC-Berkeley in 1959. Don worked as a physicist at GA, IRT and MRC.
Don was a founding member of the Spreckels Organ Society and served for many years as its secretary and principal sound technician, making sure that live concerts and recordings offered the best possible audience experience. He brought to these tasks his special combination of exactitude and discernment, a passionate advocate for quality while accepting the human side of the volunteer cadre.
Don found spiritual succor and enduring relationships in his church life. First at La Jolla Lutheran and later at St. Peter’s By the Sea, Don performed every function from plumber to congregation president. He took special joy in his roles as teacher and deacon.
A memorial service, followed by a reception and reminiscing, will he held on Saturday, March 21 at 4:00pm at St. Peter’s By the Sea Lutheran Church, 1371 Sunset Cliffs Blvd, San Diego.
