Donna Clara Newlon was born to Frank and Leona Meyer on September 16, 1942 (or September 17 if you believe her birth certificate). Donna was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Donna went to Mount Mercy in Grand Rapids, then off to Central Michigan for college, where she met and started dating Stephen B. Newlon. After college, Donna and Stephen got married and she worked as a Speech Therapist for the schools, before having her boys, Stephen A. Newlon and John M. Newlon.
After a stint in the Flint and Grand Blanc area, they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. They became part of the Traver neighborhood family and found many lifelong friends. She became a huge University of Michigan fan. They loved football Saturday’s, tailgating, going to games, and celebrating wins with friends/family.
Donna also loved traveling with Stephen B., the boys and dear friends Tom and Judy Dameron. They explored new countries, historic places, different cultures and all types of exciting new foods. This was a passion of theirs for many years.
Donna worked for many years with the County of Washtenaw, and after they retired, they moved to Tucson, Arizona to explore the Southwest and reunite with their friends the Prices. She spent her remaining years in San Diego, California.
Donna was truly devoted to her friends and could make friends with anyone. Even while standing in lines or shopping, Donna was always talking someone. Donna was always interested in what was going on in your life, always asking about you, how your day/week was going and what you had planned.
Donna was the ultimate host, whether it was for football, holidays or card club. Cooking was her special way of sharing her love with family and friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leona Meyer, and her husband Stephen B. Newlon. She leaves behind her children, Stephen A. Newlon and John M. Newlon (Sarah); grandchildren Erick Moberg (Jessie), Evan and Paige Newlon; her sister Susie Grigaliunas (Bill); along with her three great grandchildren Kennedy, Noah and Hayden Moberg; and many dear friends.
Donna was a devoted Catholic and we are comforted knowing that she is reunited with her husband Stephen B. in heaven, and that we will see her again.
