DOROTHY (DOTTIE) SCHUSTER
March 26, 1925 - February 23, 2021
Dorothy (Dottie) Schuster passed away at her home at the age of 95.
Dottie was born in Lockport, New York to Fabian and Gertrude Schaffert. The middle child in a family of five, she spent her early life in Lockport before marrying Gordon Schuster. Two daughters, Sharon and Diane, soon followed. In 1955, the family moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida and Dottie began a 30-year career at Treasure Coast Citrus. After working virtually every production job at the plant, Dottie moved into the front office to handle payroll and benefits. In 1970, she became the Personnel Manager, a position she held until her retirement.
Upon retirement, Dottie learned the art of stained glass, enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos, reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with family. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Gordon), sisters (Helen and Francis), and brother (Fabian). She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Bartlett and Diane Mendlen; four grandchildren, Charles (Charlene) and Curtiss Bartlett, Dana Mendlen (Andrew Kostyn), and Tracey (Eric) Herman; nine great grandchildren, Stefanie, Curtiss, Jesse and Jerry Bartlett, Lauren and Charles Bartlett, Marin Kostyn, Lucas and Audrey Herman; her sister, Mary Bell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
