The Honorable Duncan Scott Werth II pass. away March 14, 2017 in his San Diego home with his wife Gayle by his side. He was born in New Orleans, LA, the son of Delta Airline Captain John Werth and Elizabeth, he attend. Coral Gables High School, University of Florida (BS/BA,1963) and the University of San Diego School of Law (JD, 1971). He was the grandson of Dr. Duncan Werth, St. Louis, MO.

Appointed a Commissioner, Superior Court, San Diego County in 1983, he served for over 25 years. Werth began his career in private law practice at Haug, Werth & Nolan (1972-1983). He served as a Captain, U.S. Marine Corps in the 1960, including Vietnam.

Receiving his driver license and pilot license on the same day, age 16, he was a lifelong aviator. Holding certifications in commercial, instrument, and multi-engine ratings, he was a flight instructor in San Diego County (1968-1972).

Through the years, Werth enjoyed flying, gardening, stamp collecting, hiking, motorcycling, and sports. He was an avid promoter of the Marine Corps. His friends and collegues will deeply miss his charismatic, caring, and engaging personality.

His first wife, Jean, predeceased him. They had two children, Duncan III and Morgan (Leah) of San Diego, CA. His stepson Scott Newman and stepdaughter Keri Ford survive him. Family includes 3 grand children, Claire and Amber Werth, and Emma Ford. He is also survived by his adored wife of 15 years, Gayle Werth.

A Marine Honor Guard memorial service was held at Miramar National Cemetery on March 30, follow. by a celebration of his life at the Silver Gate Yacht Club, San Diego, CA. Donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or https://www.day.org.
