Edith “Joyce” Langsett, 85, passed away September 16th, 2016, in San Diego, California. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Joyce was born October 28th 1930, in Berry, Alabama, to Pauline Edith Ferguson (Abner) and Theodore Roosevelt Abner. She lost her mother Pauline at a young age, and eventually moved to Terre Haute, Indiana, with her father “Roe”, her brother David “Lynn”, sister, Martha “Sue”, and new Step-Mother, Mildred McPeak. Joyce said that day was one of the happiest days of her life!
Joyce graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute, Ind. in 1948. In 1952 she moved to San Diego and worked for United Airlines, where she met her husband Richard Harold Langsett. Together, they shared a passion for Hawaii, where they frequently traveled.
She is survived by her brother and his spouse, Lynn and Madie Abner, her nieces Connie Richards (Abner) and her family, and Debbie Johnson (Abner) and her family; her sister and her spouse Sue and Donald High, her niece Laura Mueller (High) and her family, and several Langsett nephews and their families; her children, Susan Langsett, Charles Langsett, and Mary Langsett-Miller and her spouse, Jim Miller, and her “favorite grandson” Ian James Miller.
At her request, a small family gathering will be held in her honor. Condolences may be expressed here on this website, or sent to her home address.
