Edward Michael Goodbody, beloved Father and Grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep December 9th at the age of 93.
He and his wife Mary were native San Diegans. As young men, Edward and his brother Bernard were among the first US residents to play Jai Alai in Tijuana. His Father and Mother, Michael and Dorothy, founded Goodbody Mortuary in 1920, which provided Edward’s career as a comforting and caring presence for those grieving the loss of their loved ones. Mary called Edward her “Rock” since he could be relied on to assist in any tough situation. Around 1960, when a new Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church was to be built, Edward had the old church building moved and incorporated into Goodbody's as the mortuary Chapel.
He is survived by son Michael, daughter Anne Ehrlich and husband Peter, and grandson James and family. His family was his first priority and he will be missed.
Virtual memorial presentation planned tentatively for January 9, 2021. Email Anne Ehrlich at farkle2anne@yahoo.com for attendance details.
