Eileen Ford
November 21, 1954 – December 2, 2019
Eileen Mary Ford, a lifelong San Diego county resident, passed away from cancer on December 2, 2019, at home. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Eileen was a graduate of Hoover High School and San Diego State University. She had a varied career, first working as an on-air personality with public radio, and as a special education teacher. Finally, she worked as a Registered Nurse for the last twenty-five years. She quickly made great friends at each stop along the way.
Eileen’s life was packed full and every adventure was undertaken with unqualified enthusiasm. She was a founding member of the “Pilates Posse,” a close-knit group of neighborhood friends and her sister Cathy, working out daily until unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. Eileen was also an avid spin participant and a regular at various fitness and weight training classes. Additionally, she was a member of the San Diego Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. All of these activities left little time for sleep, but it never dampened Eileen’s enthusiasm and love for her family, friends, and really anyone she interacted with. She was positive in life until her last breath.
Eileen is survived by her son Ryan Digilio, whom she was most proud; her sister Catherine Ann Smith (and her husband Richard); her brothers Michael Ford (and his wife Dolores); and Patrick Ford (and his wife Amy). Also, her nieces and nephews included Kelley Spoljaric, Erin Smith, Caitlin Smith, Alessandra Morales, Brian Ford, James Ford, Kelsey Ford, and Katie Ford; and five grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde Pershing Ford, and Catherine (Sanford) Ford.
Eileen’s loving and selfless spirit was a gift to her family and all those who knew her. She made the world a much better place.
