Eugene John Saathoff

Eugene John Saathoff, 83, of El Cajon, California, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. A viewing will be held on Friday 4/28 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon, California Blvd., San Diego, CA. A graveside service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego California at a TBD time.

Eugene (Gene) Saathoff was born on April 10, 1934 to Fred and Minnie Saathoff in Hildreth , Nebraska. He moved to San Diego, California in the 1950s where he served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Dennean ( De) Thompson on October 9, 1959. They have lived in the San Diego area ever since. Gene worked for the San Diego Gas and electric company but worked most of his life as an independent trucker.

He was an active member of the California Dump Truck Association. He was also a member of the Elks Club. Gene loved to travel, tell stories and jokes and spend time with his family and friends. He will be missed.
