Flavia Arviso

ARVISO, FLAVIA
May 7, 1925 to March 17, 2014
Ms. Arivso, aged 88 years, was born to Audomaro Mendoza and Jesus Encinas: She is a beloved sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Flavia passed away peacefully in her sleep while recovering from complications from a stroke. She was born in Calexico, CA and lived in San Diego. Flavia spent her early life in the Imperial Valley and shortly after having her second child her family moved to San Diego where she would spend the majority of her life. Flavia earned valuable business management experience working as the Finance Manager of a Ford dealership in the Imperial Valley. She later opened her own successful business, Flavia’s Tax and Bookkeeping Service, in San Diego’s Oak Park community as a Public Accountant/Enrolled Agent and spent over 45 years as a tax preparer and bookkeeper. Flavia loved helping others and spent many years faithfully serving her church community at Holy Spirit. She was an active member of Holy Spirit’s chapter of the Catholic Daughters and also a member of the Holy Spirit Choir. When she was not singing in mass or meeting with her fellow Catholic Daughter members, she could be found every week praying for her family and all in need at Holy Spirit’s Adoration Chapel. Sunday afternoons she could be found with her daughter Liz and grandson Robert at Pt. Loma Seafoods enjoying a good bowl of Clam Chowder, a squid sandwich and taking in the beautiful San Diego weather.
Flavia was preceeded in death by her beloved daughter Flavia “Flavita or Liz” Elizabeth Rodrigues. She is survived by her loving family; Ernest Arviso Jr., her sisters Alicia Mendoza and Maria Mendoza of Calexico and Lupe Contreras of Mexicali, her grandchildren Angie Mendez , Robert Rodrigues and her great-grandchildren, Patrick Johnson, Michael Mendez and Elise Rodrigues.
All services for Flavia will be Monday morning, a Rosary will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 at 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church located at 2725 55th Street, San Diego 92105 followed by a requiem mass at 10:00 AM, then burial at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 4470 Hilltop Drive, San Diego 92102. All are welcome to celebrate the life of Flavia.
She will be deeply missed.
