Frederick Michael Kosinski

May 28, 1948 — November 18, 2024

Frederick Michael Kosinski, affectionately known to all as Fred, passed away on November 18, 2024, in San Diego, California. His early years were spent in Maywood, California, where he was born on May 28, 1948.

Fred graduated from Cantwell High School in 1966, and later served in the Vietnam War, bravely embarking on adventures aboard the USS Oriskany. His service undoubtedly shaped him, but it may have been the last time he followed a strict schedule, since he spent much of his life gregariously chatting with anyone who crossed his path.

Fred found his profession in electrical sales for many years before finding his calling in real estate. Fred had an enduring love for meeting and helping people.

Fred was also a devoted family man. He and his first wife, Vikki (Griffin) Wojtkiewicz grew up on the same street and married in 1968. Shortly after, they welcomed their son, Chris, to the world. Later in life, he welcomed Jamee to the world and raised her alongside his long time parter in business and life, Mary Marchman. Fred is a grandfather to Chris and Heather’s children, Clinton Kosinski (passed away in 2020) and Summer Hipko. He is also a great grandfather to Clinton Hipko. He took immense pride in being a father and grandfather, a distinction he wore like a badge of honor; just ask his daughter Jamee or Heather, his daughter-in-law, who could confirm that his love for his family was rivaled only by his passion for birthdays. If you had a birthday, Fred would always take care to acknowledge it. Perhaps he thought a birthday shout-out could also qualify as an Olympic sport—given how dedicated he was!

His love of music, reading, and photography kept him busy whenever he wasn’t cheering on his local basketball and baseball teams. And let’s not forget his impressive cycling skills, which could have convinced his family that he was indeed training for something—but what exactly, we’re still trying to figure out!

Fred is survived by his loving son Chris, his wonderful daughter Jamee, granddaughter Summer, and great-grandson Clinton, who may have inherited more than just Fred's loving gaze—perhaps also his knack for birthdays! His remaining brother Jim and many others.

While we mourn the passing of this delightful man, we can’t forget to chuckle at the thought of him keeping track of every birthday in some celestial cloud, for he knew the importance of celebrating life’s milestones. Rest in peace, Fred; we love and miss hearing your stories.
