Georgia was born in San Diego, CA to Ray and Dorothy Bailey. Her mother was from the state of Georgia and her parents lived on Georgia Street when Georgia was born (hence the beautiful name of Georgia).
Most of Georgia’s childhood was spent in Allied Gardens, a “small town feel” neighborhood in the sun-soaked streets of San Diego CA. She graduated from Hoover High School in 1964 and began working for the San Diego Gas & Electric Company. She worked there for several years before moving to Germany for two years and then to the state of Georgia. She eventually found her way back home to the same sun-soaked streets of her childhood.
Georgia obtained her paralegal certificate. She served faithfully as legal assistant and paralegal to Attorney Richard Circuit for 44 years. He states it is because of her that he is a better attorney. Georgia became an expert in trademarks and oversaw the registration and maintenance of over 350 trademarks worldwide.
While Georgia was admired and respected in her field, she was even more loved by her friends and family. She was a woman who loved God and enjoyed life.
Georgia married Ziad “Joe” Shamoon on September 4, 2004 and was never happier.
She was adored by all who had the pleasure of calling her Wife, Mother, Grandma, Sister-in-law, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend.
Whether it be the simple birthday card, the out of the blue encouraging phone call or uplifting word, Georgia knew exactly what to say and when to say it. She was a fantastic gift-giver and a remarkable listener. She was intentional at inviting family and friends to coffee or lunch and especially enjoyed afternoon tea with her sister, daughter-in-law, and grandkids. She loved family more than anything and found joy in the moments with family at The Dana on Mission bay, the many birthday parties, holiday gatherings, and car rides with her sister to the local mountains, or to see the wildflowers blooming in the desert. She loved celebrating her nieces and nephews as she watched them and their families grow.
Georgia is survived by her loving husband Ziad “Joe” Shamoon, 6 step-children, 19 step- grandchildren, sister-in-law, Maryann Balamone, sister, Barbara Van Meter, 1 niece, 3 nephews, 7 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
There will be a deep sadness as those left behind mourn her absence. However, we rejoice in knowing that she is in a place where she no longer fights the disease and death of this world but instead is joined with her Father in His forever peace and rest.
