Glen Dale Blackledge

Glen Dale Blackledge, affectionately known to many as Blackie, embarked on his final journey on December 31, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of his family in the serene embrace of La Mesa, California. Born on March 20, 1938, in Los Angeles, Blackie's spirit was a reflection of the vibrant city where he first opened his eyes to the world.

A devoted servant to his country, Blackie dedicated over 20 years to the United States Navy, ultimately achieving the rank of Chief. His military career not only fostered discipline and camaraderie but also instilled in him a profound sense of duty and love for his family. He often credited the values he learned during those years as foundational to the man he became.

As a father, grandfather, and friend, Glen delighted in sharing his life's experiences and wisdom. He cherished moments with his beloved daughters, Wendy, Cindy, Lindy, and Mindy , as well as his son's Glen and John Blackledge. Each memory painted a picture of love and laughter, as they gathered around him, an anchor of strength and compassion.

Blackie's legacy continues to shine brightly through his grandchildren: Christina Guillory, Amber Ahrens, Zachary Coogan, Carissa Myers, and James Otto. Each of them carries a piece of him in their hearts, embodying his kindness, spirit, and the lessons he imparted.

In addition to his immediate family, Blackie leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with countless close friends whose lives he touched in profound ways.
