1956, he began his life's journey by signing up for the United States Marine Corps in Huntington Park California on July 19th. Three years after his service he then began in 1959 his NFL career, he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers (1959-1960), then he played for San Diego Chargers (1961-1964), Buffalo Bills (1965), and New York Jets (1966). He played on two Championship teams in his time. One with the San Diego Chargers winning 51-10 on January 5th, 1964. The other team with Buffalo Bills 23-0 on December 26th 1965.
He met his wife Patricia Ann Brown while playing with the San Francisco 49ers, they got married had two children together.
He entered the insurance business in San Diego with All-State in downtown San Diego, he later became an agent in Mission Valley California with State Farm, and then moved to El Cajon California to continue as an excellent State Farm agent for over forty-five years.
Henry met and married Lorena Blanch Rozok who was a homemaker and lived together in La Mesa, California.
Henry has always had put others first before his needs. He loved live entertainment, loud trombone, laughter, fishing, teaching others, traveling, eating healthy foods, wine tasting, reading, exercising, and sharing his past experiences.
Henry will be forever missed by his two sons Michael Schmidt, and Matthew Schmidt and his wife Jennifer Schmidt, and his six grandchildren, Danny Schmidt, and Sarah Schmidt, and Trish Schmidt, and Sheilah Schmidt, and Adam Schmidt, and Brooke Schmidt, his nephew Eugene Schmidt, and his long life best friend Pete Krants and his wife Pat.
