Jerry Lee Bowers passed February 23rd 2014 at the age of 80, due to a second massive stroke.
He was born July 17th 1933, Paris IL. Jerry was a very spiritual man all his life. In fact he was one of two last remaining charter members of the 1st Baptist Church of Mascoutah IL, where he grew up.
Jerry joined the Navy in 1951. Some of the countries he toured were Japan and China. He served in the Korean War and never forgot the children there. Later in life Jerry and his wife Adrienne enjoyed many ship reunions all over the U.S. Those times were very special.
San Diego Gas and Electric Co. was where he worked for over 35 years. Jerry was a Lineman fir a while but soon decided the underground cable splicing was for him. He invented tools, designed their work trucks, taught underground cable splicing and had a big part in writing the standards book, which they still use today. It has JLB all through it. Jerry ended his career as a Senior Engineer Analyst in which they created just for him. Our family is so proud of all his many accomplishments.
Jerry lost his beloved wife Adrienne in 2010. They enjoyed 41 years together. It comforts all of us to know they are once again together. Jerry was preceded in death also by his brothers John and Jack. He is survived by his son Mark, daughter Elizabeth, step daughters Marsha her husband Michael, Laura and her husband Robert. Eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Jerry dearly loved his church, Skyline. They will always remember him ushering and praying for everyone in need.
Memorial Service will be March 10th at 1:00pm at Skyline Church 11330 Campo Rd, La Mesa, CA 91941. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers donations are made to the Faith Promise of Skyline Church.
Jerry was loved be all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
