Obituary for Jesse Buso

Jesse was born at Mercy Hospital, in San Diego on October 23rd, 1955 to Jesse Sr. and Henrietta Buso. He was the oldest of 3 children followed by his sister Mona and brother David.

Jesse was raised in La Mesa, CA where he lived most of his life. Growing up was great fun. The neighborhood brought lots of friends and things to do. Getting up at dawn to ride his bike to Lake Murray was routine during fishing season, he also played baseball, went bowling at the La Mesa Bowl, ice skating at the House of Ice, went to the movies at the Helix Theatre or the drive-ins at Alvarado. There was always something to do. As he got older he began ocean fishing with his dad and learned to ride a motorcycle during family camping trips to Mexico. Most of his teenage years were spent at the local beaches surfing or at the sand dunes three-wheelin’ or camping with family and large groups of friends in Mexico. Jesse was preceded in death by his Father Jesse Buso Sr and his sister Catherine Ann Buso. He is survived by his only son Jesse Buso IV, his mother Henrietta Buso, only granddaughter Esilia Marie Buso, Sister Mona Whittle (Bob), Brother David Buso and three nieces Danielle, Catherine and Dominique Whittle.

Spending time with his only son was simple. They enjoyed each other’s company by just passing their time together talking and joking around since they both shared a similar sense of humor. Later he enjoyed water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing with his nieces. Time spent with family was always important to Jesse, whether it was here in San Diego or in Oxnard.

After graduating from Helix High School in 1973 Jesse continued working as a carpenter. Easily persuaded because of his love for the ocean, Jesse turned his attention away for a few years to go tuna fishing where he would be at sea for months at a time. Although he returned to work as a carpenter, his interests in all phases of the construction trade allowed him to gain experience in drafting, concrete, electrical, and much more. Jesse was an exceptionally hard worker. He always kept himself busy working on projects at home for his mom or building something. His many talents and skills were appreciated by many as he was very generous when it came to helping others.

In 1982, when Jesse was 27, he married his high school sweetheart, Debbie. In 1986 they had their only son, Jesse Buso IV. Jesse was always a very proud dad.

In 2006 Jesse became a “Papa” to his only granddaughter, Esilia Marie Buso. He loved spending as much time as he could with her, which he did often.

Jesse had an extra special quality when it came to making friends, he was liked by everyone he met. He was always cheerful and kind with a tender heart. His great sense of humor always kept us laughing with his funny comments and stories.

His last days were spent living with his mom in the home where he was raised. They were inseparable “partners”, caring for one another and keeping each other company.

There wasn’t a day that Jesse did not wake up happy, truly loving life and living it to the fullest.

Jesse passed away “Full of Life” on Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014 with his son, his mother, brother and sister at his side.
