Jo Anne Lorraine Davies

Jo Anne Lorraine Davies, age 88 passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021. She was born on September 22, 1932 in San Diego and was a lifelong resident. When Jo Anne was eight years old her family moved to Oahu, Hawaii the year that Pearl Harbor was bombed. She enjoyed telling stories of her Christmas in Oahu that December and the trip back to the states on a ship flanked by military escorts. Her stories of that time amazed both her children and grandchildren, which gave them a connection to that piece of history. When Jo Anne was twenty, she began working at the telephone company until she met the love of her life, Robert Davies (Bob). Jo Anne and Bob were married on August 29, 1959 and raised four children. They enjoyed camping with the kids, taking them fishing each year at Lake Jennings, as well as trips to Disneyland, which the grandkids would eventually join. They enjoyed traveling the world until Bob became ill with Alzheimer’s. Jo Anne lovingly cared for Bob until his passing in 2000. After Bob’s passing, Jo Anne became active in the Red Hat Society. Jo Anne loved her family and greeted family and friends with love and affection. Every birthday, anniversary, and special occasion was met with a card and a phone call, she had a way of making people feel special and loved. She was available at all times except when Wheel of Fortune was on. Once a week Jo Anne could be found at the beauty shop, getting her signature hairdo, she had the same stylist for 60 years!

Jo Anne is survived by her children Kathy, Bob Jr (Belinda), Sheri (Dave) Rose, and Robin Fries; her grandchildren Trevor and Benjamin (Jamaica) Rambo, Chanice, Erin, and Robert Davies, Natalie (Matthew) Acuña, and Bridgette and Christine Fries; and great-grandson, Dylan Rambo. Brothers Steven (Mary) and Richard Dawson and Ted (Bonnie) and Jim (Danielle) Glover and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara and brother Gordy(Shauna). She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
