John Robert Gorman

Fr. John Robert Gorman, a Roman Catholic priest of the Diocese of San Bernardino, passed into our Lord’s hands on May 15, 2018. Predeceased by his five older siblings, he is the son of Daniel Gorman and Mary Kay Moran, both of Ireland. A native of Brooklyn, he was a true-blue Dodger’s baseball fan. After moving west with family, he was inspired by his uncle Monsignor Thomas Moran to attend Minor Seminary in Los Angeles. Fr. John was ordained a priest in the Diocese of San Diego on March 19, 1958. He served as parish priest for several years in both San Diego and the Inland Empire, before being assigned by Bishop Straling as a hospital chaplin until retirement in 1998. A faithful priest for 60 years, he spent most of his retirement years at Nazareth House and would offer regular Mass both there and at the San Diego Mission Church. Many thanks in appreciation of the loving care offered for many years by the Sisters, nurses and staff at the Nazareth House. The Rosary will be at the Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego on Sunday June 3, 2018 at 2:30 PM. The funeral Mass will be at the old San Diego Mission Church on Monday June 4, 2018 at 11 AM.
