John Richard Hanna, 83, peacefully entered into heaven on Sunday, December 9th 2018 from his home in San Diego, California. John was born in Pritchett, Colorado on October 16th, 1935. He was the youngest of 5 children to the parents of William and Edna Hanna. John grew up in Wichita, Kansas where he met the love of his life and wife for 60 years, Doris Roberts. Together they raised two sons (Mike and Dan). John was a proud patriot serving his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. At age 16 John dedicated his life to Christ and throughout his life served in his church in various leadership capacities with love and a giving heart, most recently at Shadow Mountain Community Church as a Bible study leader, Sunday school superintendent, and head deacon.
In 1964 John graduated from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. His professional career of 30 years as a Buyer in the aerospace industry started in Wichita. His career took the family to Fort Worth, Texas and finally San Diego, California. After a career change, he took a position in the County of San Diego as a lead counselor at Polensky Childrens Center, a shelter for abused and neglected children. John served on the boards of various church and community organizations including a role as President of a local Pop Warner Football organization.
John leaves loving memories cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris, sister Ruth, sons Michael and Daniel, 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
