John was born to Charles and Leona (Belden) Sickler in San Diego, CA where he grew up and made a wonderful life.
He graduated from San Diego High in '55 then served 4 yrs in the US Air Force. He came home to become a draftsman and eventually a self-employed general contractor.
He married & loved Helen Pacheco for over 54 years & had two daughters – Emily Quimpo (Christian) and Laura Morebello (Tony) – and one granddaughter, Isabella, his beloved “Li’l Peach.”
He built room additions and friendships all over San Diego. From school, contracting and groups & organizations he belonged to like the ABCA, VFW, SUCCESS Optimist Club, Tri-Dance Center and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, he was known & loved by many friends.
John spent most of his last year at VA San Diego being taken care of by their wonderful doctors, nurses & staff and thanks to their compassion & generosity, he passed with his family at his bedside.
In addition to his immediate family, John leaves behind his brother Irving (Betsy) of Sequim, WA, sister Nancy of San Diego and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard (Joan) and sister Dianna.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on May 11, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Church followed by interment at Miramar National Cemetery. For details: JohnSickler3721@gmail.com.
