Rev. Jon David Peterson

Jon David Peterson was born in Chisholm, Minnesota to Rev. Kenneth and Marguerite Peterson.  He was the oldest of five siblings, and his family lived throughout the Midwest with his father pastoring churches in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.

After graduating from Augustana College Rock Island and Augustana Seminary, he was ordained a Lutheran Pastor in 1963.  He served Lutheran congregations in Illinois, Texas and California.

Dave and his wife Connie (Van Tassel) were married in 1967 and welcomed the birth of their songs Daniel and Drew in 1970 and 1971.

Pastor Dave served Prince of Peace Lutheran in Austin, Texas and Trinity Lutheran in Fresno, California.  He served 21 years at St. John's Lutheran in El Cajon from 1979 to 2000.

After his retirement from full-time ministry, he was received as a member of the LCMS in 2001 and served as Visitation Pastor for 22 years at Christ Lutheran Church La Mesa.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Connie, and his sons Daniel Erik and Andrew David.

The family finds strength in the Gospel verses of John 14:1-6.

A memorial service will be on January 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran La Mesa, 7929 La Mesa Blvd in La Mesa, California.
