"San Diego, CA - Jose Eulalio Garza, 79, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at his home in San Diego following a long battle with cancer. Preceded in death by parents
Eulalio and Eloisa Garza, brother Raul Garza and brother in law Fernando Saenz Jr.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Anne Garza; his daughters, Laura Garza and Bobbie
Garza, his son, Joe Garza Jr and his wife, Mary Duran; his grandson, Alex Hoeft; his
sisters Maria (Pola) Saenz and Catalina Cantu both of San Antonio Texas; nephews,
Gilbert (Beto) Saenz, Roel Saenz, Hector Saenz, and Raul Garza Jr. and many close
relatives and friends. Born in Santa Cruz, Texas he graduated from William Adams High
School in Alice TX in 1955 and joined the US Navy the same year.
While serving with the US Navy, Jose had the opportunity to travel the world.
As a Naval Communicator, he served aboard the USS Ammen, Arlington, and Blue Ridge as well as ashore in Bermuda, Brazil, Spain, Virginia, Maryland and California.
Jose retired as a Lt. Commander in 1981 and worked in the defense industry. Jose volunteered for many years on the USS Midway, USS Iowa and was an avid Ham Radio Operator, N6KGM & AB6RM. He was a founding father of the USS Midway’s Radio Team. A funeral service will be held on December 5 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, followed by a military burial at Miramar National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a small donation to the Multiple Myeloma Research
