Joseph Anthony Pinto, 94, Chief Warrant Officer USN, 26 year veteran, died April 4, 2018 after six month complications hypertension. He is son of Joe Lopes Pinto, Portugal & Mary Viera of Azores. Pre-deceased are Manny Pinto (step bro), Eddie Viera, John Vieira, Elizabeth Aiken, Will Pinto; He leaves brother Peter and sister Irene. 13 nieces 9 nephews, his daughters Joanne Pinto Bahena and Patricia Pinto Whalen. Six grand children, 12 great grand children and 4great great grand children (5 generations).
Joe was born in Acushnet, Mass. attended school in Mount Vernon, New York. Inlisted in USN at San Diego WWII. He obtained teaching degree/English at SDSU, his masters there after. Teaching at Santee school district retiring as vice principal. Studied theater at SDSU, Accting with Marion Ross of ”Happy Days”, musicals included “Max” in the sound of music/ Christian community theater. For years Joe weekly brought the love of Jesus to nursing homes with his Pomeranian “Pennie” at his side. A wonderful singer and dancer, Jo and second wife Helen “cut a mean rug“ dancing at Admiral Kidd club. His 2nd family included two step sons, two stepdaughters, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. 6 generationsߑ
Our grateful thanks to Irene‘s daughter, Maggie and Gilbert Fortin with the preparation of this celebration of Papa Joe, he loved his familyߘ His tender loving care & compassion extended to all. A family luncheon will be held on April X at noon, at “happy tails ranch”, 135 Hope St., Ramona,Ca. Bring a dish, call 619-277-2415, Candace. Interment at Singing Hills Memorial Park will be at a later date. Please do leave us your memory of Joe we will love to see themߒ
