Julian Oran (Ted) Baer died peacefully at home surrounded by family, in Valley Center CA. on June 22, 2020 at the age of 88.
Ted is survived by his daughters, Monica Wegener (Frank) of Newcastle, CA and Teddi Baer Fletcher (Frederick) of Valley Center, CA, his sister Judy Menard of Seal Beach, CA and his sister-in-law Dorothy Baer of Santa Maria, CA. He has three grandchildren, Rachelle Cardoza (Mario)of Lincoln, CA, Lindsey Baender of Lincoln, CA, and Chelsea Bernard (Ben) of Los Angeles, CA, four great-grand children, Keaton, Landon, and Layton Cardoza and MacKenzie Monaco all of Lincoln, CA.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 Years Rebecca Corrine of Fredericksburg ,TX, his brother Gordon (Bud) Baer of Ojai, CA and his son Mark Baer of Ventura, CA.
Ted was born on April 21, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA to Julian Oran Baer and Audrey Eva Baer (nee Kipp). They moved to Ojai, CA in 1948. He graduated from Nordhoff High School in 1950, joined the Air Force during the Korean war, and was discharged in 1954.
He worked as a painter and in 1979, after earning his Painting Contractors License, started Ted’s Painting of Ojai. He worked for 30 years in the Ojai Valley, before retiring to Fredericksburg, TX.
While living in Ojai, Ted was a member of the Backstreet Rods car club and restored many vehicles. He loved BBQ-ing and having get togethers with family. He enjoyed fishing at Matilija Canyon, as well as the Rincon in Ventura. He loved to garden and enjoyed cooking, and was famous for his spaghetti and George salad. He loved Ojai and spoke of it often. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and dedication. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
