Karla passed away on July 29th at her home in San Diego, CA with her cherished dog Max by her side.
Karla was born in Calexico CA to Carl N. and Amada Davis of El Centro California. Karla attended Harding Elementary School, St. Mary’s Catholic School, and Central Union High School (class of 1972). During her life, Karla lived in El Centro CA, Boston MA, Brawley CA, and San Diego CA.
Karla gravitated to the field of law at a young age, starting employment with the Imperial County Court system as a legal secretary. In 1994 Karla graduated with a Juris Doctorate and proceeded to practice law for the California State Attorney General’s Office in San Diego. Karla also practiced law for the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office. At the time of her death, Karla was a prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego.
Karla will be remembered fondly for her love of travel, entertaining friends, distinctive penmanship, her bright smile, impeccable dressing, and adoring her nieces and pups.
Karla was proceeded in death by her father, Carl N. Davis, and niece Stephanie Dato. She is survived and will be missed by her mother Amada Davis of El Centro, sister Marie Amada (Bill) Dato of Bermuda Dunes CA, niece Nikki (Kevin) Kenagy, great-nieces Natalie & Cami Kenagy of Brawley CA. Karla is also survived by great-aunts Espie Acuña and Connie Rodriguez of Calexico CA, numerous cousins, many life-long friends, and her beloved dog Max.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Westin San Diego (400 W. Broadway), Emerald Plaza, Emerald Ballroom on August 16, 2019 at 4pm. An additional Celebration of Life will be held at the Stockmen’s Club in Brawley CA on September 14, 2019 at 11am.
