Kevin Alan Moore: age 52: passed away November 1, 2014. He was born December 20, 1961 in Trenton, NJ to Frederick Eugene Moore and Elizabeth June Moore (nee Jones). Kevin is survived by wife Daleanne Joy Moore and daughter Eryn Joy Moore. Also, by siblings Frederick Moore, Lisa Moore and Shana Moore Verga. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Kevin attended school in Hamilton, New Jersey where he played football, basketball, baseball. and was an outstanding student athlete and a member of the National Honor Society. He was also a delegate to the New Jersey Boys State. After much perseverance he attended the West Point Preparatory school and was ultimately accepted to West Point as a member of the long gray line Class of 1986. He graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree. He then served 5 years active duty with the Signal Corps and then transferred to the Reserves. He was then employed by Cubic in San Diego where the family resided for 14 years. He was then hired by TCG Communications, which was then was sold to AT&T. During this time his daughter Eryn Joy Moore was born. Kevin was then called to active duty for one year where he served at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri. During this time he finished his MBA with an emphasis in Technology Management. Upon returning to San Diego he obtained a new position with Charter Communications with which the family relocated to Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He served in many Army Reserve unit positions and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with a total of 23 years. service. This past year Kevin was promoted to Vice President of Telephone Operations. He was also serving on Charter’s behalf as a member of the recently formed Advisory Task Force on Veteran Talent in the Media Industry. After sending Eryn off to Chapman University, Kevin and Daleanne had recently relocated from Charter in Riverside California, to the Charter offices at the Denver Tech Center. They were in the process of building a home in Parker, Colorado.
Eryn is currently a freshman at Chapman University in Orange, CA where she is a Presidential Scholar. She is pursing degrees in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Marketing with a minors in Music with an emphasis on Voice and Leadership. Kevin’s greatest joy was to see his daughter perform, which he was able to do at many theatre performances and as a National Anthem singer for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. She followed her father’s footsteps by being a member of the National Honor Society and a delegate to California Girls’s State. Eryn was recently recruited to the sorority Alpha Gamma Delta and the business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. She also was accepted to the University Program Board and the collegiate scholarship fraternity Gamma Beta Phi. Kevin loved to tell everyone about his classically trained daughter who was into “screamo” music and working at musical venues in California such as Warped Tour and KnotFest. God has given us such guidance when Eryn chose to attend Chapman University. The Dean, Residential Housing, Resident Advising staff and counselors have supported her with anything she has needed and have become an extended family.
Daleanne will move back to San Diego with her parents Richard and Margaret Palmer. During this difficult time she has been supported by many loving friends, Pastor Andy at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in La Mesa, the wonderful and supportive people at Charter who respected Kevin so much, the long gray line with Col. Brian Drinkwine and of course Chris Marsh, and God has blessed her so much as to send her Christine and Kevin Biernat who have opened their home and their hearts to Daleanne and her father Richard Palmer. Christine started as a realtor, became a friend and most recently an angel on earth to us. It is such a blessing to know there are people in the world like Christine.
We would like family and friends to give donations in lieu of flowers etc. to Chapman University Scholarship Fund, to support other students such as Eryn and the St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
Kevin’s Memorial Service has been set for Tuesday, November 25. We understand this may be a bit awkward to be held during the week of Thanksgiving, and for this we apologize in advance. The date was driven by Kevin’s first priority, which was his daughter and her education i.e. not missing classes and excelling and being well prepared for her first college finals week. We originally thought of sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas but that would have fallen during the time frame of her finals. Therefore, the alternative was January which we thought was too late.
The schedule for Tuesday, November 25, will be:
10:30 AM - Memorial Service at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 8350 Lake Murray Blvd, San Diego, CA 92119 - (619) 464-4211
1:00 PM - Final Commitment at Miramar National Cemetery with Military Honors
2:00 PM - Buffet Luncheon at Miramar Officer’s Club.
In memory of our friend, Kevin Moore, the California Leadership team will conduct a tree planting ceremony on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 9:00am at the Riverside Charter Office. Ceremony will occur near the employee front entrance located on south side of building.
