Obituary for Lita Buky McLinden

Lita Buky McLinden, passionate sports fan, accomplished artist, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, lost her long battle with cancer on October 6, 2015.

Lita was born September 11, 1932 to Mike and Esther Haimo, in Los Angeles, California, where she spent most of her childhood years going to school and playing volleyball. She married Eddie Messerman in 1950, and had two sons who survive her: Bruce E. Messerman (Ana), and Brad E. Messerman (Peggy).

Lita and her sons moved to San Diego in 1960, where she was active in Hadassah and the Jewish Community Center, and where she continued with her love of volleyball. She and her sons also enjoyed Sundays, trying to survive the experience of watching the Chargers play.

In 1982, Lita married Ed McLinden, and they cherished the time they spent with their children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed quiet time reading, going out for dinner and dancing, and just relaxing in front of the TV. After Ed passed away, Lita joined a watercolor class, which along with her beagle Jake, helped her to move forward.
