Loraine Frances Wininger, 93 of La Mesa, California, peacefully left us to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, March 14th, 2023.
Born Loraine Frances Erickson in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on August 29th, 1929 to Gilmar and Frances Erickson. Loraine moved to San Diego, California as a teenager- where she would call home for over 75 years. Loriane graduated from Hoover High School in 1947 and soon married her first husband, Wesley, with whom she had three children. In 1976, Loraine married the love of her life, Gordon Wininger. The couple enjoyed spending time with friends and their blended family, and were fond of square dancing. Following Gordon’s death in 1982, Loraine found her love of travel and saw much of the world; from Europe to Egypt to the Hawaiian Islands.
Loraine was an active member of her community and a faithful member of Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church in La Mesa, CA for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Russell and Willard. Loraine’s faith and trust in the Lord brought her through many difficult times and she leaves that legacy of faith abiding in the hearts of her three children; Richard Phillips, Karen Rakestraw, and Ralph (Janet) Phillips;
Six grandchildren - Jennifer (Jerome) LePari, Julie (Garrett) Carr, Melissa Myers, Christie (Kevin) Vanderhyde, Matthew Phillips, and Jason Phillips.
And eight great-grandchildren - Sophia, Jake, Kayla, Jimmy, Ava, Gavin, Wesley, and Emma
She is in the arms of Jesus now and will be missed every day.
