Lorinda Lea Petri

Lorinda loved life.  At the age of nine, she responded to the touch of God on her heart and committed her life to living God's will for her in this life.  As a result of that choice, on October 18, 2024 she finished this life on earth and entered into a new life of blessing that will never end.

She loved playing pranks and everyone in her social circle became vary wary of the first day of April every year.  Most of her friends and workmates have been lulled into biting into a creamy chocolate covered dish sponge, or a toothpaste filled Oreo cookie, or graciously received a bottle of water that had a pinhole poked into the bottom.

In March of 2016, Lorinda was diagnosed with stage-4 metastatic breast cancer.  Her life was to be dramatically altered by chemo treatments and her lifespan was to be reduced to a very brief span remaining.  Lorinda chose otherwise.  She chose to live her life not as a 'patient', but as a 'participant' who would not be defined by cancer.  She set family goals and saw all of them through. After each oncology infusion, she took her beach chair to the beach to make sure it became a good day.  Lorinda loved her family and friends dearly, but she loved them best at the beach.

Lorinda is deeply loved by her family and friends.  Her absence leaves a quiet void in her home, her family and her friendships, but when she was asked if she was afraid of dying, she replied "Not at all".  From the age of nine, Lorinda prepared for this day by committing her future to God.  Even as we mourn her passing, we rejoice in her steadfast testimony.

The Memorial Service for Lorinda will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Joan MacQueen Middle School in Alpine, CA. located at 2001 Tavern RD  Alpine, CA 91901.   A call in number is available for those who cannot attend, but would like to listen to the service.  The call in number is (425) 585-7422.
