Margaret Anne Dennison

As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Margaret Dennison leaves a lasting legacy. She has taught us the meaning of love, caring, compassion, loyalty, strength, courage—and the importance of family. She is remembered as a smart, beautiful, elegant woman with a great sense of humor who was a fighter until the end. Cancer did not define her last days. The love she shared with family and friends, and the love they expressed back is what now provides comfort in her passing. We know there is a reunion as she joins her family in heaven and she is dancing again.

Margaret was a native San Diegan who attended Crawford High School. After graduation, she traveled the country as a dancer in Broadway productions, including Music Man with Forest Tucker and an appearance on the Steve Allen Variety Show. Margaret was also featured in many local performances at Starlight and Coronado Playhouse. She married Thomas Dennison in 1963 and the two raised three sons, enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing. Her faith was an important part of her life and provided support during her lung cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Margaret is survived by her husband Tom; sons Shawn, Scott and Troy Dennison; daughters-in-law Laura, Christine and Kolleen Dennison; grandchildren Ryan, Hunter, Kayla and Cole Dennison; and brother Frank Bemis and sister Susan Whillock.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 22, at The Church of St. Luke, 1980 Hillsdale Rd., El Cajon, CA 92019. The family asks that tribute donations to Scripps Cancer Care be made in Margaret’s honor at scripps.org/giving.
