To celebrate her life is to celebrate the gifts she gave to her family. First and foremost is her devotion to the Lord. Her strength derived from her faith and trust in the Lord. She always said that she could write a book about her life; it was her faith that allowed her to get through the difficult moments. Mom taught us all that a person’s character matters. To be kind, to be considerate, to be accepting and non-critical, to step in when needed and to give when others have need. These are the values that were instilled upon by her father, whom she adored.
She was quiet and humble, but had an inner strength that surprised you. She was proud of all her children and grandchildren and always prayed for all of them to have a fulfilled life.
Mom was raised in Chihuahua where her family owned a large ranch. She had wonderful memories of her childhood and was very proud to be an excellent marksman, of being serenated with music and life in a small town. Mom loved to draw, sew by hand and design clothes—talents she self-taught.
Mom is survived by her children, Jose Enrique, Elias, Manuel Gilberto and Hilda. She kept in her heart her children Eleazar, Maria, Lupita and her baby boy whose breath was gone too soon. She was married to Jose Cadena and in her later years rekindled the memories of better years. She was very proud of all her grandchildren whom she cared for at one time or another: Rosie, Dolores, Heriberto, Carmen, Karina, Amber, Elias, Matthew, Omar, Jose, Brianna, Ivan, and Daniel whom she shared ventures on city buses and the trolleys as they visited parks, went to feed the pigeons and just took them out for a ride.
Mom’s spirit and love will continue in our hearts.
