Loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Maria Concepcion Flores passed away on March 17, 2024 in her home surrounded by her children and husband. Maria was born to Salvador and Concepcion Diaz on June 15, 1936 as the first in a family of six children. She lived with her grandmother and sister in El Paso, Texas until she moved to Los Angeles in her early teen years. After high school she attended the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing where she graduated as an RN in 1958. She was a nurse at Sharp Memorial for most of her career where she attended newborns and their mothers. She met Everardo and was married on October 10, 1964. They subsequently filled the next few years with the birth of their children; daughter Angelica, and their sons Eduardo, Jaime and Manuel. Maria was a devoted Catholic whose life stood for the values and teachings of the church. She has been involved in her church choir, helped at catechism and eagerly attended the social activities of the church. She has also been an active member of La Sociedad Mutualista where she enjoyed the camaraderie of her many "consocios" and of her friends at "bunco" and those she used to work with. She loved flowers and the color pink. Many days were spent tending her roses in the front yard, or picking the fruit and nuts that are so prolific in her backyard. Concha loved a party therefore she never missed the opportunity to get together with the family for laughter, food, singing and dancing, The best memories are of Thanksgiving, Yosemite camping trips, the Fourth of July, anniversaries in the back yard and weddings. Her lifelong vocation, however, has been to advocate and care for her youngest son Manuel by being a board member at Regional Center, an officer of the board of Fairview Families, and most importantly, a faithful and ever-present mother to her son. Concha is survived by her husband of 59 years, her children, spouses Joe Seager and Alma Flores, grandchildren Gabriel, Katrina, Joey, Tomas, Angelica, Araceli and Daniela.
