Maria Del Socorro Guizar, affectionately known as Coco, was born on May 13, 1945, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in La Jolla, California, following complications from a stroke she suffered on September 21, 2024.
Socorro was a devoted family member. For many years, she worked at the renowned Paul Ecke ranch, where she cultivated Christmas Poinsettias and a variety of other plants. Her passion for horticulture was evident, and she cherished every moment spent tending to the beauty that blossoms in gardens.
Socorro had a vibrant personality that shone through her interests. She delighted in attending wrestling matches, relishing the excitement and energy of the events. Horse racing captivated her spirit, and she often found joy in the thrill of the races. The allure of casinos also drew her in, where she enjoyed the games.
Socorro was a beloved matriarch to her family. She is survived by her cherished daughters, Yolanda, Maria, Margarita, and Ana Maria; her sons, Ricardo and Constancio Ogre; 19 grandchildren, Lizbeth, Maribel, Javier, Miguel, Cynthia, Erica, Richard, Bernard, Gabriela, Andres, Claudia, Clarissa, Ramon, Ricardo, Robert, Michael, Michelle and Jeanne Marie; 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Socorro was predeceased by her son Francisco and her grandson Jose Angel Chavez, who hold a cherished place in the hearts of those who knew them.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter during joyful gatherings, and her unwavering affection for her family and friends. Maria Del Socorro Guizar leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
